Dominican Heritage

St. Cuthbert Mayne School is situated in Gadebridge Park, overlooking the town of Hemel Hempstead and on the perimeter of the Gadebridge Estate.

Founded by the Dominican Sisters, the first pupils were registered in 1958 and the school was formally opened in 1960 by Cardinal Godfrey. St Cuthbert Mayne School is a junior mixed, with two form entry.

The motto of the Dominicans is contained in our school badge:

LAUDARE – To Praise

BENEDICERE – To Bless

PRÆDICARE – To Preach

We are proud to be a Dominican school. Our Dominican heritage is a source of pride and inspiration encapsulated in this motto. You can find out more about the Dominican Associates through their website.

The school maintains links with the Dominican sisters with former Headteacher Sr Laurentia visiting the school often.

Our House names were chosen by the pupils from Dominican Saints – St Dominic, St Martin de Porres; St Catherine of Siena and St Rose.

All Saints Catholic Academy Trust (ASCAT)

Formed in 2016, as part of the Diocese of Westminster's Academy Strategy, we provide a collaborative structure of school support and innovation for Catholic schools in South West Hertfordshire. Our vision of an 'Outstanding Education for All' comes from this desire to enable all members of school communities to flourish and succeed and to do all that we can to make our schools places where ambition for all is at the heart of everything that we do.
